Our Sailing Story

• Once you experience the beauty of sailing, the deep desire to get more and more immersed is forever calling. This is what happened to us. Colin and I started sailing over 25 years ago, as a hobby, with our family. We were extremely fortunate to live in Scotland with our young family. The west coast of Scotland is truely breathtaking and from a boat you can discover so much more of what this wonderful country has to offer. You become surrounded by nature and untamed water, a thrilling adventure awaits you and no 2 days are the same.

• We started our boating life in Scotland with motor cruisers discovering mainly the inner Clyde around Bute, then we ventured up through the Crinan Canal and motored around Jura, Islay and Mull. After a few years, as the children grew more capable of getting involved, we transitioned to our first sailboat, a 1973 Cheoy Lee, just perfect for our first sail boat as novice sailors. We sailed multiple times from the Crinan, up passed Oban and Mull around Ardnamurchan Point, through the spectacular Kyles of Lochalsh to Skye, Plockton and many more fabulous locations too numerous to mention. We even left the Crinan and headed South, stopping on Gigha on our trip to Northern Island and the Isle of Man. Vivid memories of these trips and our time sailing with our family will never leave us.

• We were not all natural born sailors and we certainly had some scarey moments during our many adventures but this is how you learn and build your experience, allowing your confidence to grow as an individual but also as a couple and as a family. You start to believe in yourself and each other, then you can dream of what could be possible.

• In February 2016 we bought Andrea Jensen in Alghero, Sardinia.

  
  

Unique Features of Tall Ship Andrea Jensen

• Explore the breathtaking design of our 1939, Danish, tall ship, a gaff rigged ketch (two masts) for versitile sail handling in various weather conditions, flying up to 7 sails. She has a beautiful, eye catching counter stern leaving very little wake.

• Andrea Jensen was built in Denmark, in the heyday of traditional fishing under sail. She fished in the North Sea from before the 2nd world war, until 1986. She was heavily constructed from oak and expertly built, to survive the harsh North Sea environment. Andrea Jensen (formely Andrea) has a secret not yet discovered, between 1942 and 1946 her ships records (we have her original log book) are blank?

• Of course now Andrea Jensen has been converted to carry passengers, an easy life for the old girl compared to her fishing past, she has ample deck space (20 meters) seating for 12 and space for sunbathing on deck or just relaxing in the bow net.

• Our day sailing adventure departs from Alghero Port at 10am and we head North West to the Marine Protected Area of Porto Conte, we are authorised to visit this area and have had training in sustainability and protection of the local marine environment.

• Our boat trip is suitable for all ages, we have even had dogs on board and of course Smokey the cat, she is not ours but she has adopted us.
